Working the new reggie

Okay it been 10 days since my relaxer and 3 co-washes later. I've been sticking to the new reggie and it seems to be working, the addition of castor oil to my scalp and hair has defintely showing some thickness and addition to that my hair feels softer, more moisturized. I will continue this reggie until my next relaxer, that way i can give it time to see if it's a regimen i will keep, gotta keep tweaking until i find the right regim...

My Waistlength Challenge and Regimen

Hey Girls,I am on a quest for waistlength by July 20th, 2010. I have 5 inches to go. Since i have been stuck at bsl for the last year, i will have to do an overhaul of my present regimen. I am obviously doing something or somethings wrong. My ends continue to fray and break off and i can't stand to see those thin ends, so i cut, which always takes me back to bsl. I plan to tweek my present regimen because, if you do the same thing everyday, don't expect different results, so it's time for a change.I will start working on a new regimen, not that...

Relaxer Results

I relaxed on July 20 after a 12 week stretch. This time i used ORS lye relaxer, regular strength. As usual i did a relaxer prep with castor oil and conditioner on the length. I had been deep conditioning faithfully thoughout the whole 12 week stretch, alternating with protein, moisture and henna gloss. I have noticed that even though my relaxer technique has gotten better, i still seem to texlax. I no longer wish to textlax because it doesn't seem...

Hello followers, Just a quick blog to let you know, i have changed my name (formerly Fine Hair Sista) to A Journey to Waistlength, because this is my goal. I will still blog from the perspective of a sista with fine hair, trying to grow, thick, strong and healthy waistlength hair. I will also document an overhaul of my present regimen. I have gotten to bsl with my old regimen, but i seem to be stuck there. I will try new techniques and products to hopefully reach my goal of full waistlength. Thanks for your support :o)f...

The Countdown Continues

I only have 4 more days to make a decision on whether or not i will relax or stretch, but i am leaning towards relaxing in the 4 days. My hair is cooperating with me this stretch. Usually about this time i can't even get the comb through it. I have been doing some extra moisturizing and concentrating my oils and moisturizers on the root area, so maybe that has made it easier for this stretch. I have been doing all protective styles and i came up...

To Stretch Or Not To Stretch, That Is The Question

Well it's almost that time again, 8 days before my next touch up and i'm going crazy trying to decide whether or not to relax in 8 days or wait a little longer. I usually relax around 12 weeks anyway, but this time i want to stretch longer. The longest stretch i did was 16 weeks and it was so hard, but i really didn't have much choice as to why i stretched because i was sick and could not be bothered with doing my hair. It was in braids and i did not have the strength to take them out. Right now i have about 1 inch of new growth and i am doing...

The Countdown Begins

I am at that point again 10-1/2 weeks post relaxer, this is when it gets so difficult to stretch and to know what to do with my hair (does anyone have this problem?) I always just want to relax and get it over with, but i vowed that i would not relax earlier than 12 weeks. It's not that i have breakage or anything like that, but it is always so dry, brittle and hard to comb at this point, and i can't really do anything but put it in a ponytail or bun or a protective style. I wish there was a way to style my hair another way at this point, but...

How Often Should Fine Hair be Relaxed?

There is not a one size fits all answer to this one. There are many factors to consider when relaxing fine hair. How you schedule your relaxer touch-ups depend on these things :1. Hair growthdo you have at least 1 inch of growth? For some, that could be 6 weeks, for others 10 weeks or more. Having at least 1 inch of growth would provide room to apply relaxer to new growth only, therefore reducing the chances of overprocessing. Relaxing on less than an inch of hair growth can lead to overprocessing and thinning.2.Hair TextureDepending on your...
