Update: Growth Renew Products

I started using the growth renew products november 17th 2008 as part of my BSL challenge on http://hairsistas.ning.com I am about 1 1/2 inches away from bsl. I read a lot of hype about the growth renew line and saw the infomerical. The ladies who used the whole line all showed so much improvement in length and thickness, so if it worked like they said it did, not only do i want to try it, but i need it. My hair is thin, fine, shedding and breaking. It's also dry. Okay, i figured , i've tried everything else why not this one last product line, Lol. I decided, i would only use this line of products to know for sure it was these products and not some of the hundreds of products i already use (yeah, i'm a pj), The whole line consists of 5 products, shampoo, deep conditioner, moisture lotion, edge creme and a topical follical & root stimulator, try saying that 3 times fast, hehe. The only part of the system i did not buy was the edge cream, because i thought it would be redundant because i could use the follicle root stimulator on my edges and believe me my edges need it.
So i have been using the system for 2 weeks. I must say the products are really good. Every product in the line stimulates your scalp. The deep conditioner is excellent, it tingles on the scalp and has a cooling effect and leaves my hair soft and moisturized (which is hard to do for my dry hair). To me the star of the line is the follical and root stimulator, as i said, i have thin edges, which were almost bald when i started and now i see hair growing back, and i seem to have more growth overall than usual and i am 6 weeks post. I will continue to use these products until i reach BSL. I will keep you updated :o)

Winter Protective Styles

This is one of the protective styles i wear in winter time. I always wear hats in winter and wigs underneath, it is a great way to hide your hair, condition under the wig and hat and nobody knows what's going on underneath, Lol
I always keep my hair moisturized and conditioned, i sometimes braid it up or just twist it up in the back. Always wear a wig cap or scarf to protect hair.
This is great for stretching and resting hair for growth.

Product Preview

Yes Ladies,
the pj-ism has kicked in once again. I promised myself that i would not buy anymore products no matter what promises it made, but alas i am weak of flesh,Lol
Okay what i am gonna do is try this product to reach my goal of BSL, which should be approximately 3months. Maybe this product line will speed up growth for the 3 months and i can reach my goal. If this product works the way it supposed to, i will use it also for my MBL challenge, let see? I will not use and other products but this line. That way i will know that it's this product and not one of the many hundreds, yes hundreds of other products i've tried.

Product Review

All i can say is wow, i never thought a cheapie conditioner could possibly moisturize my super dry hair, but this product really delivers. I heard all the ladies on the hair boards and site talking about how this conditioner really does moisturize the hair, but i'm thinkin, there is no way this cheapie conditioner could do the job of the more expensive conditioners. I was pleasantly surprised when my hair felt like butter, and even though i still had a little tangling, it was way easier than with some other conditioners i have tried. I have just found a staple product. I will use this in conjunction with my more expensive products

All About Fine Hair

Chapter 1
How do you know you have fine hair?

The diameter of fine hair is smaller than people with medium or thick texture. You can have a lot of hair and still have fine hair, the strands itself are very thin, thus making the hair fine. Fine hair generally lacks volume, does not hold a curl very well and is easily damaged and will break easier than medium or thick textured hair. Fine hair can be curly, straight, relaxed, etc.
Fine hair usually gets weighed down by too much products. Fine hair is not necessarily thin hair, although the two often come together. Thin hair means that you don't have a lot of strands on your head. Some people have thick hair that's considered fine because it's silky and smooth. Some people with afro textured hair think their hair is thick until it is straighten out and find that their hair is fine, it looks thick because of it's curliness.

Saturday Wash Day

Okay, so i washed my hair today. I always co-wash.
I was supposed to wash it on thursday.
Just too busy.
I used some left over conditioners, don't know what they were because i don't have a full container of any conditioners, so i just mix it all up and hope for the best. I did add my usual olive oil to the conditioning concoction. I left this conditioner on for about 4 hours because it was my puppy's wash day also and he also needed a haircut, boy this doggie was not feeling it so it took me about 4 hours to do everything with him.
When i finished with my dog. I rinsed the conditioner out, towel dried, and put some EVO in my hair and airdried.
but i must find a detangling conditioner(for fine hair) because no matter what i do, i always seem to tangle. I have a shower comb that's supposed to be a detangling comb but it doesn't work for me. I use a wide tooth comb to detangle that works much better. I always rinse out my conditioner in the shower or there would be alot more hair lost.

Sunday is wash day

Today is my wash day. I don't use shampoo, only conditioner.
I co-washed with tresseme mixed olive oil and a left over dominican conditioner
I'm not to sure about the tresseme, but the dominican conditioner was pretty good.
I used it when i was stretching and it softened the new growth enough that i could at least
comb my hair.
Right now i am about 11 days post, but because i am underprocessed in the middle of my head,
it's already hard to comb. I don't know how i'm gonna make it 2 1/2 more months.
I apply my conditioner by parting from the nape applying conditioner until i get to the top
of my head, something like when applying a touchup, this way i always make sure all my
hair is covered with conditioner.
Then i sit under a heat cap for 45 minutes, or 1 hour with a plastic cap and a towel if not using heat.
I then rinse the conditioner out in the shower,
towel dry,
add my oil (olive oil, coconut oil, alma oil, castor oil or whatever oil i feel like using for this shampoo or a combination of oils, but i must alway use an oil, because my hair is very dry)
then i air dry,
twist my hair up and pin it up.
I will wear a wig or braids or weave for the winter.

Texlax touch up

Okay Girls,
So i did a touch-up on Oct. 16, 2008
I did my usual texlax, but this time it did not turn out the way it usually does.
It is so underprocessed right now and i just don't know whether to do a corrective
relaxer or just leave it alone. It really is not breaking, because i have so much oil on it,
i could probably fry a chicken. It did grow about 1 1/2 inch, after stretching 4 months.
That's not alot of growth, but i'll take what i can get. I am hoping for better results next
touchup. I will try to stretch for 3 months, which is what i usually do anyway, but let's
see, being that i am unprocessed.
