Natural Way To Ligthen Hair

For as long as i can remember, i always wanted lighter hair. My hair is a dark brown with reddish highlights that can be seen in the sun. I never really liked the color of my hair and still don't, so over the years i have had my hair colored almost every color of the rainbow. My last color was supposed to be a nice light ash brown, that's not what i got. The color it turned out to be was a brassy cross between bright red and orange, Ok No!!! HAM (Hot ass mess). On top of that i paid 250.00 for that mess, from someone who was supposed to be a top colorist, right!! Not only was the color a HAM my hair broke off to about an inch, going from MBL (Mid-back length). I did not know that there were just too many processes for my relaxed, fine textured hair. Other permanent dyes did not take my hair out, but with this color, it was bleached to almost white and then a toner(adds the shade of color)was added and processed for an hour. Not good for fine, relaxed hair. I vowed to never color my hair again, but i still see beautiful color on other people and wished i could have it. So i started looking for ways to color my hair that would not damage, dry out or break my hair. I was searching the web on night and came upon this site that said there was a way to lighten hair naturally without causing damage to your relaxed or natural hair. What???
Here is the recipe :
Have you ever used honey for your hair? Honey has been a part of routine hair care treatments for centuries and honey recipes for hair care treatments are versatile.

Anyone with any hair type can use recipes of honey in their routine hair care. It is a great way of lightening your hair color.

Here is a simple recipe of honey yielding marvelous results to lighten the color of your hair.
Steps to prepare

Step 1: Firstly, take all the ingredients required for the preparation and put them in one place. The ingredients include: ½ cup uncooked raw honey, 1½ cups distilled water and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, cardamom or ground cinnamon oil each.

Step 2: Take 1½ cups distilled water in one neat bowl and add honey to it. Stir it well.

Step 3: Now, add extra virgin oil, cardamom or ground cinnamon oil to the solution of water and honey. Stir it thoroughly until it gets dissolved.

Step 4: Pour this solution in a spray bottle or root applicator bottle to apply to your hair. If you don’t have either, use a brush to apply it to your hair.

I intend to try this recipe mixed with conditioner:

the mixture

olive oil
ground cinnamon
tresemme
distilled water
Honey

Charting My Hair Growth Progress

This is the start of my charting growth. I am having breakage in the middle of my head, i have no idea why? but it's great to have my t-shirt to see exactly were i am now and where i will eventually like to be. I can see the damage and can work to make changes for the better over time. I will be updating every 3 months with my t-shirt.

Well, now that i'm taking this grow to waist length thing seriously, i have implemented a few new rules for myself to follow.

1. I will use my growth progress t-shirt to chart my growth (i'm on line 4)
2. I will wear protectives styles
3. Keep hands out of hair (i have hand in hair disease, lol)
4. Mostly finger comb
5. I will cut back on washing my hair (I now only wash Monday's & Thursday's.Every 3 days is too much manipulation).

The journey continues :o)

Relaxer Update !!

I finally relaxed on tuesday october 13th after a 12 week stretch. I could have stretched for longer, but for some reason, i have had breakage in the middle of my head. I believe the breakage is caused by my texlaxing. I get so many tangles, so much more than when i relax bone straight. I think the texlaxing and fine hair does not go together very well, at least not for me. This touch-up i decided to go back to relaxing bone straight, my hair will look thinner, but it already has less tangles and almost no breakage, yaaaaa!!! Since i was not completely satisfied with the ORS lye relaxer (regular) last time, i made the switch back to silk elements. I must say it came out very well, probably because i prepped my hair and scalp, and made sure the conditions were right for relaxing, so here's what i did :

1. washed and deep conditioned with a protein con (1 week before touch-up)
2. did not manipulate my scalp in any way (why does your scalp want to start itching like crazy at relaxer time?)
3.air dried
4.only finger combed
5.moisturized and sealed

The day of the relaxer

1.based scalp
2.coated previous relaxed hair with, affirm protecto, chi silk infusion and chi keratin mist
3.applied relaxer in 4 sections
4.rinsed
5.neutalized
6.deep conditioned with porosity control, hollywood beauty olive oil cholesterol and tresemme mixed together
7.air dried
8.moisturized (with homemade mixture)
9.sealed with almond oil
10.the did one big braid and clip it up,put on my silk scarf (that's it)

Result
very soft tangle free, evenly relaxed

One of my better relaxer experiences !!!

Mixtress Monday

After feeling my hair and deciding that it looked too thin and felt very weak, i feel that i needed a protein treatment. I did not want to do a hard protein because i am 11 weeks post and hard protein would also make my new growth very hard too. I had seen other hairsistas do an egg treatment and got good results, so i figured i would try mixing an egg into a conditioner concoction (i had never used eggs as a protein conditioner before)I know with a hard protein or henna, i always got strength and thickness, but how would adding eggs to my conditioner make my hair feel? Well, i'm glad i finally tried an egg conditioning mixture. I co-washed and deep condition with the egg mixture for 1 hour, applying it in sections like when applying a relaxer. I put on a plastic cap, wrapped my head in a towel, let it sit for 1 hour, rinsed. I then detangled (it was so easy to detangle and my hair felt so soft), air-dried and moisturized and sealed. Then twisted and pinned my hair up, and put on my silk scarf for the night. I love how my hair feels, strong and moisturized and the new growth is so also, with this mixture, maybe i can stretch for another month, we'll see.

The Mix
1 egg
v05 champagne kiss
hollywood beauty olive cholestrol
almond oil

Product Review

Chi Keratin Mist

Use instructions:

•Leave-in strengthening treatment
•Cationic Hydration Interlink softens and balances hair, locking in moisture
•Reconstructs the inner structure of the hair
•Improves strength
•Adds protection and shine
•Provides incredible manageability
•Can be used every day

I use this product on dry hair when i feel it needs more protein and i don't want to condition my hair again. This product can be used after washing, and sprayed on as a leave-in, it contains keratin protein for strength. I mix it with almond oil, to create a keratin oil mixture. I really like this product. One of my new staples :o)
