Winter Hair Care Blues? Or Winter Hair Dues?

Q.    WHAT IS YOUR WINTER HAIR CARE PLAN?

A.        The fact is, is that most of us never plan ahead for the winter when it comes to our hair!

Q.    Why does my hair seem to be the driest in the colder months?  And what can I do to care for it?

A.    First thing to remember is to ALWAYS use a conditioning shampoo and make sure that your hair is dried completely!

TIPS

After seeing so many clients come into the salon with the same questions and concerns, I felt that it was again necessary to 'blogg' about Winter Hair Care!
So hold tight while I'll share just a few hair care tips that have been successful for me!  Enjoy.

1.  The first tip I was tell anyone trying to restore, maintain or grow their locs is to be totally mindful of winter breakage!  One area to be cautions of is the nap area.  During the colder months many wear scarfs, jackets and coats.  Most made of wool.  Wool+hair=breakage.  Although you may not be able to avoid the winter gear.  Try wearing a up protective hair style that is better suitable for you and your life style.

2.  Deep condition more often than usual.  Heated homes, cars and environmental changes tend to dry out your hair.  Thus far causing it to break even easier.  Look for humectant products which holds in moisture and use a good deep conditioner about twice a week for optimal results.

3.  Try not to leave with damp hair!  This is extremely important.  Did you know that if you expose your hair to the freezing eliminates while damp you stand a great chance of snapping your hair and causing further damage!  You should wash your hair only once a week and use less shampoo during these particular months.

4.  The heat indoors is already going to suck the life out of your hair without you ever knowing what happened.  Leaving the hair dry, brittle and less manageable.  It maybe a great time to start trying out less heat restricted hair styles.  Such as wraps, blow outs (using cooler temperatures), braids (that are not tightly done, as this too will cause additional breakage .  You may also want to try a weave! This is a great technique because it will allow your hair to be free from the climate changes, heat, additional stress and other things that may not be helpful.

5.  Protective hair styles.  It is important for you and your professional stylist to come up with a great hair style that not only will secure the ends of your hair as well as something that will allow you to continue on with your winter hair care regimen.  I would always recommend a Sewn Application for those that are natural or looking to give their hair a break!

So remember to simply moisturize, dry and protect!!!

TEA TREE OIL- is a must have when looking for an moisturized agent that will surely help you and your hair!
