Fast Easy Ways to Style Thick Hair

Individuals with thick hair might find it harder to style and manage. The most important thing to do in order to have manageable thick hair is to get a proper haircut and a style that will be easy to recreate each day. If you have thick hair, you should also try to avoid an overload of products, since it will leave your hair with buildup and make it even harder to style. There are many haircuts that look flattering to those with thick hair, and are also easy to style.

Layers

With thick hair, removing some of the bulk with layers allows you to keep the length but remove some of the thickness. Thick hair should always have some degree of layering in it, otherwise the hair becomes too boxy and unmanageable. Keep layers in the front, allowing it to frame some of the face and add depth to the back of the hair but do not let layers get too high on the head or it will create an unflattering shape. Layers also create a lighter look, making styling easier with either a flat-iron or large barrel curling iron. Flat-ironing or blow drying hair creates a sleek look, but may be time-consuming to keep up.

Medium Length or Longer
Anyone who has thick hair should avoid a short cut. These types of hairstyles create a poofy look, especially when the cuts are near the jawline. Keep thick hair medium length, which is around the shoulders or longer for easy-to-style hair. Having medium or long hair also creates weight, keeping the hair from becoming poofy or out of control. As with many women, having long hair to put up during a bad hair day is one of the easiest ways to style hair in a short amount of time.

Avoid

For those with thick hair, one of the things to avoid in any haircut is bangs. Bangs look best light and wispy, so thick hair will not work very well. They are difficult to style on thick hair, and they almost never lay flat like other hair types. To get the look, thick hair could be flat-ironed, but would eventually become frizzy
